For seven consecutive days, Aug. 17 to 23, some of the world's top athletes will race though Colorado with Stage 1 and the start of Stage 2 set in Steamboat Springs.

The weekend's festivities in Steamboat begin Saturday, Aug. 15 and end Tuesday, Aug. 18. USA Pro Challenge-related activities range from community bike rides, bike polo, live music, yoga, a special kids zone on Yampa Street, presentations and lectures, a Maxxis Stunt Show and more.

The All Arts Festival, which runs Monday, Aug. 10 to Sunday, Aug. 16, will be another major event going on alongside the USA Pro Challenge. Leonard says the festival will highlight local and national artistic talent.

For music, the Emerald City Opera will have a number of performances throughout town, and the Jeff Austin Band will be the headliner for the final Free Summer Concert series show at the Howelsen Hill Amphitheater.

"It's just so amazing to see all the different aspects of Steamboat from arts and culture to our ranching heritage to athletics with both road and mountain biking and trail running," said Kara Stroller, Steamboat Springs Chamber marketing director and co-chair of the local organizing committee. "There is something for everyone in Steamboat, and this weekend is really showing that."

Although primarily centered around biking, the organizing committee wanted to take more of a holistic approach to USA Pro Challenge events.

"It's important to show these different assets because all eyes of the nation and world will be on Steamboat," Leonard said.

Putting Steamboat Springs in the spotlight through the USA Pro Challenge is publicity that Stoller said couldn't ever be purchased, offering an incredible venue for marketing Steamboat as a vacation destination while also showcasing it as Bike Town USA.

"There won't be a dull moment all week because there will be plenty to do for everyone, and it's a really exciting time to show the world what a great destination Steamboat is," Leonard added.
