Freestyle skiers finish season strong

Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club

Steamboat's U13 and U15 moguls skiers finished their season early this month with a promising performance at Purgatory Resort for the USSA RQS and Devo Championships.

At the top of the heap for local skiers was River King, who won the boys RQS moguls championship, leading the way for a big weekend from his teammates.

Behind King on the boys side, Xander Tatar-Brown was sixth, overall, and fifth among U13 skiers. Brooks Birkinbine was 13th, overall, and second among U15 skiers. Andrew Lemley was 15th, overall, and 10th among U13, and Anthony Mathey was 19th, overall, and 12th in U13.

On the girls side, Riley Hodges laid down a strong performance to place second, overall, and in the U15 ranks. Maisie Wagner was first among U13 skiers and fourth, overall; Elizabeth Lemley was first among U11 skiers and fifth, overall, and Carina Creamer was 10th in U13 and 19th, overall.

Elizabeth Lemley was strong again a day later in the dual moguls competition, placing third. Maisie Wagner was right behind her in fourth.

Kaelyn Radway was third in the U11 girls division. Tatar-Brown was seventh and King eighth on the boys side.
