— It's official: Ski season is finally here. With the fresh dusting of new snow and the mountain opening early, there's a lot to celebrate this weekend. Aside from ripping down the slopes, explore downtown by attending a live music show, taking a workshop or checking out this weekend's featured ski film at the Chief Theater. Here are Explore's Top Five Picks.

Warren Miller: “Chasing Shadows”

Warren Miller once said, "A pair of skis are the ultimate transportation to freedom," and this weekend, Warren Miller Entertainment will introduce its 66th snowsports film, "Chasing Shadows." The film will feature the world of the U.S. freestyle team and the dynamics of living on the fringe through snowsports such as power surfing, speed riding and monoskiing. Watch JT Holmes, Seth Wescott, Caroline Gleich, Steven Nyman and more as they pursue turns on the mountains of dreams: Chamonix, Alaska's Chugach, Utah's Wasatch and the mightiest range of them all, the Himalayas. This event is a benefit for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
