Leah Vann

As a biology major at the University of Texas, Leah Vann discovered her love for sports journalism while working for her student newspaper, The Daily Texan. She graduated in May 2017 and spent a year working as a sports reporter for the Globe Gazette in Mason City, Iowa, before starting as sports editor at the Steamboat Pilot & Today in June 2018.

The Fort Worth, Texas, native grew up running track and playing volleyball, and has experience reporting at their highest levels. Leah traveled with the University of Texas volleyball team to the 2016 NCAA National Championships, reported on two Texas Relays and the Drake Relays for track and field, and wrote about Olympians featured in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Although she grew up a sprinter, Leah has run two half-marathons and several cross-country relays, which fuel her love for telling the stories of endurance athletes like ultramarathon runners and triathletes.

As sports editor in Steamboat Springs, Leah covers everything from prep sports to winter Olympic prospects in Nordic combined, ski jumping, Alpine and freestyle skiing, and slopestyle and Alpine snowboarding.
