May 15, 2016
Steamboat Springs — Construction on Yampa Street will ramp up this week, with some closures beginning Monday.
Yampa Street between Ninth and 10th streets will be closed to vehicle traffic, including the public lot at Ninth and Yampa streets, as Fox Construction crews perform work associated with the redevelopment of the former Yampa Valley Electric Association building and city crews and Duckels Construction begin preliminary mobilization work in the same area associated with the city's Yampa Street Improvement Project.
The intersections of Ninth and Yampa and 10th and Yampa will remain open during the initial closure.
By the week of May 23, Duckels Construction is expected to begin the improvement project, starting with a sewer main replacement that begins near 10th Street.
Beginning May 23, Yampa Street will be closed between Ninth and 11th streets, including the 10th and Yampa intersection and the Ninth Street parking lot.
The sewer main replacement is expected to wrap up before July 1. Construction crews then will relocate to an area near Little Toots Park, continuing work throughout the summer on utility undergrounding, drainage, curb and gutter and sidewalks and landscaping.
