Yampa leak will result in water shut-off this afternoon

Zach Fridell

— Residents of Yampa will be without running water for about an hour this afternoon while workers repair a broken pipe just outside of town on Routt County Road 7.

Yampa Town Clerk Janet Ray said the leak was discovered at about 8 a.m. this morning. Workers are on site to fix the leak. When the uncover the exact location of the leak, all of the town’s water will be shut off so the broken section of line can be replaced.

Ray guessed the shut-off most likely will take place at some point 2 to 5 p.m and will last for about one hour. The water will be turned back on as soon as the repair work is done, she said.

The water is safe for consumption, Ray said.

Residents with questions about the water issue can call Town Hall at 638-4511.
