Weather forecast holds little chance of snow in Steamboat Springs
November 25, 2012
Steamboat Springs — The weather forecast for the Yampa Valley this week is more favorable to bikers and anglers than skiers who are hoping to make turns in natural snow.
Dan Cuevas, a technician at the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, said Sunday that daytime highs are expected to approach 50 degrees most days this week and that skies are expected to remain mostly clear.
Overnight lows in the teens and 20s should continue to aid the ski area’s snowmaking efforts during its first full week of operation, but no snowstorms are forecast in the area through the weekend.
"There’s not much going on" in this week’s forecast," Cuevas said.
Bikers were out in force on Sunday to take advantage of unseasonably warm weather and clear skies. Stagecoach Reservoir also hosted a few anglers hoping to catch some trout before the return of wintry weather.
