The Steamboat Springs School board meets at 6:30 p.m. today. One the agenda is an update on the district’s strategic plan and on the sale of bonds for elementary school upgrades. In November, Steamboat Springs voters approved $29 million in bonds to replace Soda Creek Elementary School and make improvements at Strawberry Park Elementary school.
The School Board also will talk about partnering with the city of Steamboat Springs on an after-school program at tonight’s meeting. The Igloo, the city’s facility for its current after-school program, is an old portable building that once served as the locker room for Howelsen Ice Arena. The school district and city used to partner on the after-school program, but the partnership ended in a dispute over facilities.
Today is expected to be the busiest day of the year at the Steamboat Springs Post Office. It’s the last day to send cards or packages and be sure the mail will arrive by Christmas. The Post Office does not have extended hours. You can also try shipping with PostNet, but getting packages sent in time for Christmas will cost more. The main post Office is open from 8:30 to 5 p.m. today and the branch in Sundance Plaza is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
