Town Challenge to try again Wednesday to make up rained-out race

Joel Reichenberger

— The Town Challenge Mountain Bike Race Series will give its season-opening race a second try Wednesday. The town’s mountain biking series was postponed last week in the face of bad weather, but it will attempt to go again at Howelsen Hill.

The children’s races begin at 5:25 p.m. The adults, meanwhile, take off beginning at 6 p.m. with the pro/open division. The final division of the day, the women’s novice class, begins at 6:30 p.m.

The races will begin at the rodeo grounds at Howelsen Hill in downtown Steamboat. The route for the top divisions will meander around the Bluffs Loop, up Lupine and eventually back down MGM toward a finish back at the rodeo arena.

Registration is available for $25 until noon Wednesday at the Parks, Open and Recreational Services Department, 245 Howelsen Parkway in downtown Steamboat Springs. Registration also will be available for $35 at the starting line beginning at 4:30 p.m.
