Police, fire and ambulance calls

1:23 a.m. A Steamboat Springs Police Department officer found a bear in a dumpster at Colorado Mountain College. It was scared away.

9:22 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear that damaged part of a garage in the 400 block of Emerald Court. There had been food inside the garage.

10:23 a.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called to check on a person with chest pain in the 900 block of Central Park Drive.

12:51 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a burglary in the 900 block of The Boulevard. No other information was available.

3:22 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person receiving unwanted text messages in the 1000 block of Saratoga Avenue. Police told the person who sent the messages to stop.

4:03 p.m. Officers were called to a report of unsecured trash in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue. A ticket was issued.

4:07 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a speeding car at Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue. It could not be located.

4:11 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a driver who was swerving and cut someone off at Ninth Street and Lincoln Avenue. The driver was contacted, and a ticket was issued.

4:27 p.m. Steamboat firefighters were called to a report of driver who thought a controlled burn was out of control at U.S. Highway 40 and Colo. Highway 131. The burn was controlled.

9:35 p.m. Officers were called to check on the welfare of a person who sent a concerning text message in the 3200 block of Apr├Ęs Ski Way. The person was fine.
