Police, fire and ambulance calls

2:43 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers contacted a driver who was driving strangely in the 1900 block of Curve Plaza. The driver was lost.

10:17 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a man driving recklessly at Third Street and Lincoln Avenue. The driver was taking his seat belt on and off and was sticking his head out the window. The 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under restraint and driving without proof of insurance.

10:41 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a kidnapping at Fourth and Pine Streets. A mother who was not supposed to have contact with her 1-year-old child took the child out of a car. The mother then took the child to the emergency room, and police contacted them without incident. The mother was being evaluated by mental health officials, and charges were pending.

1:29 p.m. Oak Creek Fire Protection District firefighters were called to a report of a possible wildfire in the 21000 block of Cheyenne Trail. The fire burned about five acres, but no structures were damaged. Firefighters believe the fire was started by an ember from a controlled burn last week.

4:41 p.m. Oak Creek firefighters were called to help a sick person at the Routt County Jail.

5:53 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear in the 500 block of Steamboat Boulevard. It could not be located.

6:59 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a deer dying in the road at the James Brown Soul Center of the Universe Bridge.

8:54 p.m. Oak Creek firefighters were called to help someone with a head injury at Decker Park.

9:01 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious incident in the 900 block of Confluence Court. A woman left her door unlocked and returned home to find a pile of dust on the floor. The woman believed someone tampered with a box containing ashes from a pet.
