Steve Downs: History, nostalgia
November 2, 2008
Steamboat Springs — We were all witness to many events of change in our community this summer. Whether you support the “deconstruction” of Ski Time Square or not, those of us who live and work at the base area have indeed seen history made each and every day as the buildings are removed.
Little seems to ever be said about the hard-working men and women who have gone about this task with little disruption to our daily routines while maintaining a clean and safe operation. I would like to publicly thank Fiore and Sons, Inc. of Denver and GE Johnson Construction Co. for their work this summer and fall. Do remember that we are fortunate to still have the Tugboat open for sharing all of those memories.
Come to the mountain – it is still here.
