STEPHEN W. VAIR

1940-2001

Stephen W. Vair died Aug. 17, 2001. He was 60.

Stephen was born Aug. 24, 1940, in Arvada to Clyde and Ethel (Nosler) Vair. He grew up and attended school in Arvada, graduating from Arvada High School. Following high school, Stephen served two years in the U.S. Navy. He then married Judith Ann Hunter June 7, 1963, in Wheat Ridge. They lived in Arvada and Fort Collins prior to coming to Hayden in October 1977. Stephen worked at the Hayden power plant in various capacities and at the time of his retirement, he was a board operator.

Stephen had served on both the Hayden Town Board, the Hayden School Board and was a member of the Hayden Congregational Church.



He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and reading.

He is survived in death by two daughters, Shannon Sitler and husband Brian of Tucson, Ariz., and Terri Vair of Grand Junction; two sons, Scott Vair and wife Debbie of Castle Rock and Steven Vair and wife Kendra of Greeley; four grandchildren, Meagan, Cory, Trevor and Chloe; his mother, Ethel Vair of Eaton; and his brother, Clyde Vair of Eaton.



He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde; a brother, Kenneth, and his wife, Judy, in 1997.

A memorial service was at 1 p.m. Aug. 24, 2001, at the Hayden Congregational Church. Bill and Carol Iammatteo-Code officiated. Interment was at the Hayden Cemetery. Memorials in Stephen’s name can be made to Routt County Human Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
