Steamboat Young Professionals Network to host TED Talk-esque event Wednesday

Steamboat Young Professionals Network to host second annual HYPE event Wednesday featuring seven inspirational speakers.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — What's all the hype about?

Routt County residents will have access to an event that is TED Talk-esque in nature and equally inspiring.

And it's all happening here in Steamboat Springs.

The Steamboat Springs Young Professionals Network will host the second annual HYPE (Helping Young Professionals Excel) inspirational speaking and networking event will take the stage at 6 p.m. March 7 at the Chief Theater.

"We are hoping to create a platform for inspirational ideas," said Ashley Waters, one of YPN organizers of the event. "We want members of the community to connect with the talks in a way that applies to their lives."

Aimed at fueling ideas and provoking inspirational thought, Waters said HYPE was created to be an evening of networking and quick, impactful talks by experienced speakers.

While TED Talks feature influential speeches and presentations given by experts on a variety of topics, HYPE will feature seven motivational speakers from diverse backgrounds around this year's theme: commit.

A few of this year's speakers include life and empowerment coach Sarah Gallagher, leadership and performance coach Karl Schroeder as well as Steamboat locals Amy Charity and Chad James.

The innaugural event was held in fall 2016 and saw presentations from 10 professional speakers focusing on personal growth and excellence.

"Each speaker will offer a different perspective," said Waters. "There will be something for everyone. Anyone who is interested in being inspired to commit to any aspect of their life should attend."

The event will be followed by a meet and greet to further discussion.

Tickets are $20 for YPN members and $40 for the general public. All ages are welcome.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. for an hour of networking, snacks and refreshments before the two-hour program begins at 6 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit SteamboatHYPE.com.
