Steamboat woman honored by sporting goods industry

Jennifer Shea, director of sales for Honey Stinger, competes at the Nike Women's half-marathon in San Francisco.

— A Steamboat Springs woman has been recognized nationally as a young business leader in the active lifestyle industry.

Jennifer Shea, who works for Honey Stinger, was tapped as one of SportsOneSource’s 40 under 40 award winners. She was recognized for making a difference in her industry and the market, and was selected from more than 400 nominations, which were submitted from across the country.

"These awards are a way to recognize the great work done by younger leaders in our industry," SportsOneSource President and CEO James Hartford said in a news release. "The extraordinary and diverse talent nominated again this year made it difficult to narrow the list to just 40 people.

"We drew very strong support from past honorees and other industry leaders to select a prestigious group of individuals," Hartford added.

Shea serves as Honey Stinger’s director of sales and has worked for the company for four years.

"Jenn is extremely deserving of this honor as she exemplifies what a manager in the outdoor and sporting goods industry should be," said Len Zanni, co-owner of Honey Stinger. "Jenn has a unique way of commanding respect within the industry and motivating her team, while still knowing when to encourage our sales team to get outside and enjoy her weekly forced fun."
