Steamboat seat and three others open on CMC Board of Trustees

Steamboat Springs — Colorado Mountain College's Board of Trustees is seeking candidates to run for four seats up for election this fall, including the Routt County seat currently held by Ken Brenner.
Brenner, the owner of Performance Sports Medicine and a former Steamboat Springs City Council member, said Tuesday that he intends to run for a second term.
Brenner was elected to the CMC board in 2011 and said he's enjoyed being a part of the board and helping to guide college leaders.
"We've had a very interesting four years, and I'm really excited about our new leadership and new strategic plan," Brenner said. "It's been a really exciting journey."
Other open positions for districts, which are defined by the public school districts within them, include District 2, the Roaring Fork School District, District 4, Summit County School District; and District 6, Lake County and Eagle County school districts.
Each term is for four years.

Potential candidates must be a registered voter within the district where they submit their petition to run, but voters in every district are able to cast votes for candidates running for each position.
Petitions for interested candidates are available in the CMC Central Services administration office in Glenwood Springs beginning Aug. 5 or can be mailed to interested candidates upon request.
Candidates must collect 50 qualifying signatures and return the petition by Aug. 28.

The seven at-large board members typically meet every other month for all-day meetings at locations across the college's service area.
Board responsibilities include employing and evaluating the college president, approving the college budget, establishing college goals and monitoring the progress of CMC, according to the CMC website.
