Steamboat riders again rule the podium

— It was another race and, seemingly by virtue of that, another big day for Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Alpine snowboarders.

The riders hit the slopes during the weekend in in LeRelais, Quebec, for a Nor-Am event and came away with a heap of podium finishes and other high placings.

AJ Muss won one of the two races and was fifth in the other, leaving him with four victories in six Nor-Am events this season.

Muss pulled out his win Saturday and led the way for a strong Steamboat performance. It was so strong, in fact, that Steamboat racers swept the podium.

Converse Fields was second a week after winning a race at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs. Michael Trapp, meanwhile, slid into third. Ryan Rosencranz was seventh, Steven MacCutcheon was ninth, Gaelen Schiedel-Webb was 10th, Olivier Vachon was 11th, Ezio Argento was 13th, Robbie Burns was 14th and Christian De Oliveira was 15th, packing the final round of the top 16 riders with Steamboat-trained athletes.

On the women's side, Maggie Rose Carrigan was fast, finishing third a week after she swept both races in Steamboat itself. Nina Argento was 12th and Katie Keough was 17th.

Muss was fifth, Burns was sixth, Shiedel-Webb was seventh, MacCutcheon was ninth, Rosencranz was 12th, Argento was 13th, Conrad Scher was 14th, Everett McEwan was 15th and Myles Silverman was 16th.
