Steamboat hockey overcomes 3-goal deficit for win

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Battle Mountain High School hockey team jumped out to score the first three goals of the game Saturday playing in Steamboat Springs. The Sailors roared back, however, scoring seven of the final eight goals of the game for a 7-4 victory.

Steamboat got a pair of goals from David LaPointe, who already has four scores in the season's two games. Nate Kelley scored two, as well, while Matthew Kempers, Tate Dorris and Johnathon Kaminski all scored one each.

The Huskies started the game with a goal from Steven Dent, then quickly got another from Alex Parliament just 30 seconds later and still one more from Harry Green late in the first period. Kelley finally got Steamboat rolling with a late-first period score, then scored his second early in the second period. Joey Beveridge scored the Huskies' final goal and it was all Sailors after that.

Steamboat improved to 2-0 on the season with the win. Next up for the squad is a trip Friday to play at Kent Denver.
