STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The course for the Class 4A state championship was the longest the Steamboat Springs High School team had played this season, and the squad's two state qualifiers, brothers Jack Rotermund and Oliver Rotermund, felt all 7,000 yards they encountered Monday and Tuesday at the event.
Oliver Rotermund, a freshman, shot an 89 on the first day and an 84 on the second. His combined score placed his 42nd.
Jack Rotermund shot an 85 and a 105 to place 69th.
Darren Edwards of Thompson Valley won the championship, shooting back-to-back, one-over par rounds of 73. Bridger Tenney of Evergreen and Barrett Jones of Eagle Valley tied for second three shots back.
Montrose won the state championship with a six-shot advantage on Evergreen.
