Steamboat girls fall against Rifle

— Elly Walters finished with 18 points to pace all scorers, and the Bears (9-5 overall, 5-3 league) scored 18 unanswered points in the first half to take control against the Sailors early.

Walters, a freshman point guard, was one of two Rifle players who reached double figures in scoring. Jessie Pressler finished with 11 points, with six of them coming in the first quarter on 3-pointers. At one point, the Bears held a 26-3 lead.

Beverly DeRenzo-Kohl finished with six points and Megan Limberg, Allison Casey and Maddison Clock each had three points to pace the scoring for Steamboat (4-10 overall, 1-7 league).



Both Steamboat teams continue league play on Friday when they host Eagle Valley. Rifle will continue league play on Thursday night at Palisade.
