Steamboat briefs: Yampa Town Board meets tonight about audit, sewers

— Chris Catterson will present the results of a 2009 audit to the Yampa Town Board at its 7 p.m. meeting today at Yampa Town Hall. Also during the meeting, the Public Works Department will update the Town Board about sewer testing results for May and the Lincoln Street gravel project. Yampa Town Board member Jeff Drust will update the board about Bear River Reservoir, and board member Karen Tussey will report back from a South Routt Economic Development Council meeting.

In new business, the Town Board will consider creating a cleanup day and how to proceed with the sale of a tractor and loader. Board members will discuss moving school zone signs and will consider acceptance of picnic tables from the Phippsburg Community Club.

The meeting is open to the public.

Marabou's biking trails are open today through Tuesday

Marabou Ranch land preservation subdivision's mountain biking trails typically are off-limits to the public, but as has become tradition the past three years, the private development is opening its trails to riders in the week leading up to the June 9 Town Challenge Mountain Bike Race there.

The trails officially open to the public today. They'll be open to riders from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Tuesday. All riders must sign a waiver before riding at Marabou, and they also must check in at the Outfitter's Cabin at the ranch entrance off Routt County Road 42 west of Steamboat Springs.

The trails will be closed to the public for the remainder of the season after the conclusion of the June 9 race.
