Steamboat briefs: Veterans of VFW Post 4264 to observe Memorial Day

Veterans of the VFW Post 4264 and American Legion Post 44 will conduct Memorial Day services to honor the memory of those who have served in the armed forces.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, in front of the veterans memorial in Steamboat Springs Cemetery. The public is invited to attend and help honor and remember the devotion of those who served their country.
Steamboat Springs Transit will provide bus service to the cemetery from the transit center west of town. Busses will begin running at 9:40 a.m., with the last bus leaving at 10:40 a.m.. Busses will return immediately following the service.
Traffic control personnel will assist with parking.

Hayden American Legion to hold Memorial Day services
The American Legion will conduct Memorial Day Services at 6 p.m. Monday, May 29, at the Hayden Cemetery. The public is invited to attend.
The Hayden Cemetery District requests that all items placed at gravesites for Memorial Day be removed by June 15.
In addition, to facilitate maintenance operations, the Hayden Cemetery District Board requests all decorations not attached to headstones be removed. Ornamentation not attached to a headstone that interferes with caretaking is out-of-compliance with the cemetery's rules and regulations and will be removed, as necessary, on an ongoing basis.

Clark student makes spring 2017 university honors list
Aidan Moon, of Clark, was among 241 students named to Concordia University, Nebraska's, honors list for the spring 2017 semester.
The top 25 percent of all undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours qualify for the honors list.
Concordia University, Nebraska, founded in 1894, is a fully accredited, coeducational university located in Seward, Nebraska, that serves more than 2,600 students. For more information, visit cune.edu.
LED bulb rebates available for Oak Creek Electric customers
Oak Creek Electric customers are eligible for rebates to cover the purchase of up to 10 energy-saving LED bulbs up to $100. Funding for the rebate program is made possible by Routt County, with assistance from nonprofit Yampa Valley Sustainability Council.
