Steamboat briefs: Summer STEM program begins Monday through June 19

Camp Invention, a nationally recognized, nonprofit summer enrichment program, is coming to Strawberry Park ElementaryMonday through June 19.

The camp, which is open to students entering kindergarten through sixth grade, is a program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame  — a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing inventors and invention, promoting creativity and advancing the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship — and supported by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

For students entering kindergarten through sixth grade, Camp Invention is a weeklong adventure offering activities that foster hands-on problem solving, collaboration and the use of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

All local Camp Invention programs are facilitated and taught by certified educators who reside and teach in the community. CDOT to hold telephone town halls Monday through Tuesday

The Colorado Department of Transportation is hosting six telephone town halls beginning Monday provide the public with a forum to ask questions and give input about a variety of transportation issues.

BetweenMonday and Tuesday, residents in all 64 counties will be called at random through an automated system and invited to take part in their regional town hall. Coloradans who choose to join the conversation can listen and express their thoughts to their transportation commissioner and key CDOT personnel about how the department is addressing the state's transportation needs, important projects or initiatives and funding.

Those who do not receive a call but want to participate can dial in, toll-free, at 877-229-8493, PIN 112034.

In Routt County, the telephone town hall is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday.
