Steamboat briefs: Rep. Scott Tipton’s staff slates mobile office hours







A member of U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton's staff hold office hours in April in Routt County to assist constituents with casework, as well as provide information about Tipton's work and legislative activity in Washington.

The Routt County office hours will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Commissioners' Hearing Room at the Routt County Courthouse, 533 Lincoln Ave.

Tipton will also hold mobile office hours Wednesday, April 20, in Meeker and Craig, and on Friday, April 22 in Walden.

All constituents are invited to attend.

Tennis Center at Steamboat offers court rental discount

The Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs is offering half-price court rentals through Sunday, April 24. There will be not leagues or junior academy programs this week, but the center will have some weekly drills.

Local groups plan to host business loan seminar

The Colorado Mountain College Yampa Valley Entrepreneurship Center, the Steamboat Springs Economic Development Council and SCORE will host a Success Steps Seminar titled "Business Loans for Small Business: Preparation, Application and Process" from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5 at Colorado Mountain College in Room 216 or the Academic Center.

The seminar will cover business lending, mitigating risks, the five "Cs" of credit, loans, the business application and the Northwest Loan Fund.

The program will be presented by Anita Cameron, director of business lending for the Northwest Loan Fund and will include a Q&A session. Cost of the seminar is $10 and includes lunch.

Group accepts nominations for philanthropist of year

Yampa Valley Community Foundation is now accepting nominations for the philanthropist of the year award.

Each year, the foundation recognizes an individual, business and youth, each of whom demonstrates notable charitable giving and volunteerism and inspires the communities to live with generosity and intergrity.

Nominees must be current residents of Routt or Moffat counties.

SSHS Booster Club plans fundraiser this spring

The Booster Club and Steamboat Springs High School teams are selling potted annuals and flats of annuals for their annual spring fundraiser.

Order 12-inch diameter hanging baskets with a choice of either mixed annuals or geraniums or 12-inch diameter patio pots of mixed annuals.

Also available this year are five-inch succulent planters to bring indoors after the summer ends.

These healthy and beautiful plants will be blooming and ready for pick up May 26.

LiftUp food band to observe extended hours in April

LiftUp of Routt County's food bank in Steamboat Springs will observe extended hours on Wednesdays during the month of April, according to a news release from the organization.

Wednesday hours through the end of the month will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
