Steamboat briefs: People are encouraged to give to nonprofits Tuesday

Colorado Gives Day is Tuesday. The fundraising event is designed to encourage people to donate to nonprofit organizations in their hometowns. Routt County organizations participating in the event include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Colorado, Colorado West Regional Mental Health Inc., Family Development Center (Discovery Learning Center, Newborn and Child Care Networks), Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, Yampatika and the Steamboat Springs Pregnancy Resource Center.
Donate to any of these organizations by going to http://www.givingfirst.org, clicking on "donate to your favorite nonprofit and selecting the organization from an alphabetical list. Registration open for adult co-ed sports leagues Monday
Registration is open for the city of Steamboat Springs' winter adult co-ed sports leagues. Registration continues through Monday for the city's basketball and volleyball leagues as well as its new dodgeball league. Games start in early January. Fiesta Jalisco partners with nonprofits for fundraiser
Fiesta Jalisco restaurant in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center is hosting a "Fiesta for the Future of Our Youth" fundraiser Tuesday and Wednesday, with 20 percent of the profits from lunch and dinner services on both days going to local nonprofit organizations Colorado Student Care, Grand Futures and Advocates Building Peaceful Communities. The nonprofits will hold an open house from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in conjunction with the fundraiser. The open house is intended to allow community members to learn what each organization is doing to support local youths. For more information, call 970-870-1733.
Tread of Pioneers Museum closed Monday for remodeling
Tread of Pioneers Museum in downtown Steamboat Springs will be closed Monday because of a remodel. Beginning Tuesday, the museum will be open with limited exhibitions until a grand reopening scheduled for late January. Admission to the museum will be free during that interim period. Hayden library will be closed Monday; volunteers are needed
The Hayden Public Library will be installing new carpet and will be closed through Tuesday before reopening at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Volunteers are needed during the project to help move books and furniture. Those who are interested in helping are asked to call 970-276-3777.
