Steamboat Briefs: Hospital phone system upgrade starts today

Yampa Valley Medical Center is upgrading its telephone system today and June 22. Starting at 5 a.m. today, the only line open to the hospital will be the main number, 879-1322. Calls will be forwarded to an internal cell phone and answered by a nurse supervisor. No other direct line numbers will be available for about 15 minutes.

YVMC still is working out the details of the June 22 upgrade but expects the same restriction to start at 5 a.m. and last 30 minutes.

Oak Creek power outages are today and Wednesday

Oak Creek residents and businesses will be without power for about 15 minutes at 9 a.m. today and again at about 1 p.m. Wednesday for scheduled line work. Town Clerk Karen Halterman said crews will be working on a transmission line between Kremmling and Oak Creek. The town will switch over to generator power for about 24 hours, Halterman said. The brief blackouts will take place as the power sources are switched.
