Steamboat briefs: Fund established for Christensen’s family

A fund has been established for Jesse Christensen, the 55-year-old Routt County man who died tragically in an avalanche Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Money raised from the site will go toward funeral expenses and other costs the Christensen family is incurring.
Christensen leaves behind his wife, Leslie, and six children.
Christensen's visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Steamboat, 1155 Central Park Drive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Interment will be held in St. George, Utah, at a later date. Yampa Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Steamboat Ski Area shifts to spring hours
Steamboat Ski Area will shift to extended spring lift hours starting Saturday, Feb. 18, and continuing throughout the season. Under the new hours, the following lifts will remain open an additional 30 minutes: Burgess Creek, Christie Peak Express, Elkhead Express, Morningside, South Peak, Storm Peak Express, Sundown Express and Sunshine Express. The following lifts will remain open an additional 15 minutes: Pony Express and Thunderhead Express.
In addition, night skiing will shift to spring hours of 6 to 9 p.m. starting Saturday, Feb. 18.
