Steamboat briefs: Fourth annual Steamboat Color Fun Run set for today

The Optimist Club to host Pumpkin festival today

The Optimist Club of Steamboat Springs will host its 26th annual Pumpkin Festival from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at the Howelsen Hill rodeo grounds. There will be free pumpkins and pumpkin painting, as well as coffee and refreshments.

Pumpkins will be judged by age group, and prizes will be awarded. The event is open to children age 2 through grade school and is sponsored by Safeway, the city of Steamboat Springs, The Egg and I, Steamboat Coffee Roasters, Royal Flush, Johnny B. Good's, Ron Wendler and Colorado Realty Group, Rocket Fizz and Raindrop Water.

Hayden Library collecting donations of school supplies

Hayden Public Library is taking donations of any school or office supplies people want to drop off. All supplies will be taken to the school for any student who needs them.

Routt County United Way has announced the start of its new volunteer network, Get Involved Routt County.

Inspiration Classes held at Emerald Mountain School

Emerald Mountain School is offering two Inspiration Classes this fall for students in second through eighth grades.

Dave Marrs will teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu sessions from 4 to 5 p.m. for students in second through fourth grades and from 5 to 6 p.m. for students in fifth through eighth grades on Mondays. Sessions run through Dec. 19, and the cost is $260. According to Marrs, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu helps students build confidence, discipline, strength and agility.

Cribbage Club will meet from 3:30 to 4:40 p.m. Tuesdays for students in third through eighth grades. Students will have fun learning a classic game while enhancing their math skills, as well as learning about odds and probability, how to strategize and how to apply critical thinking. The club meets through Dec. 20, and the cost is $120
