Steamboat briefs: Former student graduates medical school in Arizona







— Chelsea Bonfiglio, a member of Soroco High School’s Class of 2007, graduated Monday from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. Bonfiglio is entering her residency in emergency medicine. She is the daughter of David Bonfiglio, of Oak Creek, and Barbi Bryant-Bonfiglio, of Denver.

South Routt Library District introduces new database

The South Routt Library District has initiated a new database to enhance the experience of Oak Creek and Yampa library branch patrons, according to a news release.

The new database allows access to a number of resources, including Academic Search Premier, Auto Repair Reference Center, Business Source Premier, Consumer Health Complete, Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia, GreenFILE, History Reference Center, Legal Information Reference Center, MAS Ultra, Masterfile Premier, Middle Search Plus Newspaper Source, NoveList, Points of View Reference Center, Primary Search, Psychology & Behavioral Sciences, Regional Business News, Science Reference Center, Small Engine Repair Reference Center, Topic Search and Library Information Science & Technology Abstracts with full text.



This database also is available on the district’s new website southroutt.colibraries.org, which can be accessed using a patron library number. Those who do not know their patron library number can call the Oak Creek Library at 970-136-8371 or the Yampa Library at 970-638-4654.

Coffee with Council slated for 7:30 am Friday

Councilman Scott Ford will host Coffee with Council from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, May 13 in the Crawford Room of Centennial Hall, 124 10th St. Planned topics for discussion include police station selection sites, dog/bear regulations and downtown parking. No RSVP necessary, and community members are welcome to discuss any issues of interest to them. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.



State representative to host town hall at 5:30 pm Friday

Rep. Diane Mitsch Bush, D-Steamboat Springs, will host a town hall from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Butcherknife Brewing Co., 2875 Elk River Road in Steamboat Springs. Mitsch Bush will provide a wrap-up of the legislative session and answer questions from the community.

Vaccines available to help prevent hepatitus A,B

Hepatitis is a liver disease that can sometimes lead to long-term liver infection or liver cancer. The most common types are hepatitis A, B and C.

Hepatitis A is spread by eating or drinking food or water contaminated with the virus. Hepatitis B is spread through blood, semen or other bodily fluids. Hepatitis C is spread through infected blood.

Vaccines are available to prevent hepatitis A and B. There is no vaccine for hepatitis C, but it can be treated if caught early. Travel and/or some behaviors may increase hepatitis risk. Hepatitis A and B and other routine vaccinations are available during drop-in immunizations clinics, which are held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101. They are also available by appointment by calling 970-879-1632.
