Hayden school board supports Amendment 59
Steamboat Springs — The Hayden School District Board of Education passed two resolutions at its meeting Wednesday.
The first resolution was in support of Amendment 59. The so-called Savings Account for Education (SAFE) measure would amend the Colorado constitution to dedicate a new funding source for the benefit of public education to create a savings account to stabilize education funding during tough economic times.
The second resolution was in support of Steamboat Springs Referendums 2A and 2B, which seek to extend the city’s half-cent sales tax for education and allow the Steamboat Springs Education Fund to share some of the proceeds from the tax with school districts in Hayden and South Routt. Amendment 59 and Referendums 2A and 2B are on the Nov. 4 ballot.
