Wrestling club for youths hitting the mat
Yampa Valley Wrestling Club of Routt County invites all youths in kindergarten through eighth grade to try the sport of wrestling. The season begins Tuesday and continues through Dec. 4. Practices will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cost is $75. Anyone interested please meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Steamboat Springs Middle School wrestling room. Health center in search of volunteers
Yampa Valley Medical Center is seeking volunteers for its Community Health Resource Center. The free lending library is available to physicians, hospital employees and community members and provides resources on a variety of medical topics. Call volunteer coordinator Mindy Fontaine at 870-1146 for more information.
Fall session for dance classes begins Monday
The fall session of classes for children’s Danceworks begins Monday and runs through Dec. 21. Classes for ages two to adult. Special workshops include a Modern & Jazz Dance Sampler with guest teachers for ages 13 to adult and a “Boys Only!” workshop for ages 7 to 10 with classes in African drumming, hip hop/street, juggling and more. Prices vary according to the class.
Also, the Steamboat Dance Theatre, children’s Danceworks and Alpine Taxi will be sponsoring Master Classes with Jen Golonka, a member of Kim Robards Dance Company, on Oct. 20. Beginning/intermediate ballet is from 10 to 11:15 a.m., intermediate/advanced ballet is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., beginning/intermediate modern dance is from 3 to 4:15 p.m., and intermediate/advanced modern dance is from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Class cost is $10 for Dance Theatre members, $15 for nonmembers.
