Players, flag ladies and instruments are needed for the marching band in the Fourth of July Parade in Yampa. Players of all abilities are welcome. If you would like to participate, watch for signs at the post office in Yampa. Practices likely will start this month. Youth Corps seeking community volunteers

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is looking for community members to volunteer for field-based workshops all summer. Volunteers would visit RMYC crews and discuss life-skill topics such as career development, leadership and healthy lifestyles. For more information, call 879-2135, ext. 4.

Crime Stoppers looking for hit-and-run driver

Local law enforcement officials are investigating an incident that occurred about 2 p.m. May 21 in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue, where a large, yellow front-end loader reportedly struck a black Chevy Silverado pickup. The accident caused significant damage to the Chevy pickup and to a Toyota Tacoma pickup parked in front of the Chevy. The driver of the front-end loader left the scene without reporting the accident.

With information about this or any other crimes, call Routt County Crime Stoppers at 870-6226. The line does not have caller ID, and giving a name is not required. Callers can earn up to $1,000 for information. Routt County Crime Stoppers also offers a cash award for information leading to the arrest of fugitives.

Medical transportation available for vets

Transportation to the Grand Junction and Denver VA medical centers and the clinic in Craig is available for veterans who are unable to drive and who have an appointment Monday through Friday at either hospital. This service is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the veterans affairs officer of Routt County at 879-5489 or e-mail mcondie@co.routt.co.us to arrange transportation.

Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of the medical services available to them through the VA. Entering the VA medical system requires a copy of your DD 214 and about 20 minutes to fill out a form with the VA officer. The Routt County office is in the Workforce Center in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
