Steamboat briefs for Feb. 20

Library introduces free video downloads

Bud Werner Memorial Library card holders can now download videos for free from the library’s opening on-line collection, which includes documentaries, feature films, classic horror films, instructional videos, children’s science videos and more.

Library users can access the new digital collections at http://marmot.lib.overdrive.com.

Downloadable video uses the OverDrive Media Console, the same software that library visitors are already familiar with for audio books and music. Titles also can be transferred to hundreds of supported devices to enjoy anytime, anywhere. Some titles can even be burned to CD. At the end of the seven-day lending period, the titles automatically expire and are returned to the library’s collection.

At the end of the loan period, the video is automatically “checked in” to the library, so there are no overdue fees. There also is no physical disk to lose or damage. If the borrower wants to watch a video that someone else has checked out, they can place a hold on it and be notified by e-mail when it is available. Call Alysa at 879-0240, ext. 329, with questions.
