VNA offers new Healthier Living classes
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering two new sessions of its Healthier Living class. Join the Steamboat Springs class starting Wednesday or the Hayden class starting Thursday. The classes are six-week workshops designed to help people face challenges associated with chronic health conditions. Attendees will learn strategies to fight fatigue, deal with depression, control pain, manage stress, solve problems, communicate better and create goals for healthier living. The free class is open to all individuals with chronic health conditions as well as those who support and care for them. Swelling soil booklet available for homeowners
The Colorado Geological Survey has released a new booklet, “A Guide to Swelling Soil for Colorado Homebuyers and Homeowners, Second Edition,” to educate the public about swelling soil, a geologic hazard that has damaged thousands of homes in Colorado. The booklet offers steps that Colorado homeowners can take to protect themselves against swelling soil movements and property damage.

Veterans Arts Festival judging today
Artwork by veterans enrolled as patients at the Grand Junction Veterans Affairs Hospital will be on public display from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, during the medical center’s annual arts festival.
The entries will be judged today by local professional artists.
