Volunteers needed for Mainstreet Steamboat

Steamboat Springs — Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is recruiting interested volunteers to assist with its programs. Mainstreet is a comprehensive program created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to revive and strengthen the historic cores of communities across the nation. More than 2,000 communities are using the Mainstreet Four-Point Approach, which address design elements within the district, promotion of events and image, economic restructuring to gauge and strengthen economic health, and organization of the entities within the district as a unified voice. — Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is recruiting interested volunteers to assist with its programs. Voter registration deadline today

Today is the voter registration deadline for citizens wishing to participate in Democratic or Republican caucuses on Feb. 5, 2008. If you are currently not registered, registered as unaffiliated, or have recently changed your address, visit the Routt County Clerk’s office at the Routt County Courthouse, 522 Lincoln Ave. in downtown Steamboat Springs. Citizens must be registered with a political party and have a valid, current address to participate in a caucus Feb. 5.

Registration time for winter rec leagues

An official with the Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department said Dec. 20 is the registration and payment deadline for teams wishing to play in upcoming adult basketball and indoor soccer leagues. Teams who intend to play this winter must submit all fees to the office at 245 Howelsen Parkway by 5 p.m. on Dec. 20. Returning teams from 2006-07 will be given first priority into a league, pending they pay and register by the deadline. New teams will be let into a league according to available space, in the order that complete payment is received. Call 879-4300 with questions.
