Steamboat briefs: Few openings remain for annual writers conference

A few openings remain for the 32nd Steamboat Springs Writers Conference sponsored by the Steamboat Springs Arts Council and Writers Group. This year's instructors are essayist John Calderazzo and screenwriter Clay Haskell. The $65 tuition covers seminars, a continental breakfast and a catered lunch. The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 20. Optional July 19 activities include a light supper and "Five Minutes of Fame." Free mammograms, pap tests for women 40 to 64
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering free mammograms and pap tests for women 40 to 64 who are uninsured or underinsured, have not had a pap test or mammogram in the past 12 months and meet income requirements. Cultural integration group seeks bilingual volunteers
Integrated Community is seeking bilingual volunteers to assist the organization with its resource and referral program on Mondays and Wednesdays. Volunteers must speak Spanish, enjoy helping the immigrant community and be respectful and mature. Training is provided. Call Sheila at 970-871-4599.
Medical Center seeks to fill board of directors opening

The South Routt Medical Center Health Service District board of directors has an opening for a board member. The South Routt Medical Center is a special district governed by Title 32 of the Colorado Revised Statutes. The medical center is experiencing significant growth with many future projects pending. Interested board members should be registered electors of the district, willing to commit to fulfill a term that ends in May 2014 and be able to attend at least one meeting per month. It is a volunteer position.

Boys & Girls Club's Be Great Brunch is Aug. 4
The Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs' annual Be Great Brunch is Aug. 4 at Three Peaks Grill. The three-course brunch will include sparkling wine and an auction. Mainstreet Steamboat Springs seeks volunteers
Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is in need of volunteers to help create programs and events that will benefit downtown businesses and the community. Volunteers are asked to work two to four hours per month. Specifically, volunteers are needed for the Promotion Committee, which plans special events, retail events and branding.
