Steamboat briefs: Applications accepted for community fund

Steamboat Sotheby's International Realty collaborated with the Yampa Valley Community Foundation to create the Steamboat Sotheby's International Realty Community Fund and is accepting applications for the fall 2017 grant funding cycle.
The Steamboat Sotheby's International Realty Community Fund was established to support Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs nonprofit organizations through a collective funding and semi-annual granting process. Steamboat Sotheby's International Realty agents, owners and staff collectively participate in the fund, aiming to make a significant and meaningful impact.
Grant funding will be considered for any nonprofit 501c3 organization or program in Steamboat Springs or Northwest Colorado. Grant funds will stay local and support organizations that demonstrate need, that make an impact in our local community and residents.

Sky Club hosts Saturn astronomy event
The CMC Sky Club has scheduled its first public astronomy event of the year, "Goodbye to Cassini and Saturn," at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 in the Albright Auditorium on the CMC Steamboat Springs campus. Paul McCudden, new associate professor of physical science at CMC will give a brief presentation about Saturn and the recently deceased Cassini spacecraft. People will then be invited outside to get a last look at Saturn before it goes into the daytime sky for a few months. The event is free and open to the public.
Arts and culture grant applications ready
Steamboat Springs Arts and Culture Coalition 2017 grant applications are now available. Any 501c3 organization that provides arts and cultural services to benefit the residents of Routt County is eligible to apply for funding from the city of Steamboat Springs. Application deadline is Thursday, Oct. 26.
