Steamboat boy receives minor injuries after being hit by car

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A 9-year-old Steamboat Springs boy is fine after getting hit by a car Wednesday.

Steamboat police and firefighters were called to the 400 block of Mountain Village Circle for a report of the boy being hit by a car.

Steamboat Springs Police Department Cmdr. Jerry Stabile said the boy was sitting down on a skateboard and rolled behind the car, which was backing out of a parking space. The boy was likely below the car’s mirror level, Stabile said.

One of the boy’s parents called 911, and they took the boy to get medical treatment.

Stabile said the boy had minor injuries to a leg, and the driver of the car was issued a citation.
