Soroco girls basketball continues Western Slope roll
January 28, 2018
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Maybe others are surprised. Soroco High School girls basketball coach David Bruner, however, isn't, at least not much.
His Rams are undefeated in the Western Slope League with four Slope games remaining.
"People are surprised about the way things are going, but I guess I shouldn't say, but I'm not too surprised," he said. "The kids just expect to come out, work hard, and they expect to have a chance to win. That's the expectations we've given them."
The Rams picked up one big win in their journey through the league on Saturday, knocking off Hotchkiss, 53-42.
The Rams got 12 points from Mattie Rossi and 11 from Kourtney Bruner.
"They both did a really good job defensively, too. They had a lot of rebounds," David Bruner said.

Kayla Wille added 10.
"Hotchkiss was a pretty big game for us," David Bruner said. "They were really big. They had a lot of height, and we have some sickness going around. We played pretty well at times and other times got a little sloppy, but we were able to win it."
Soroco also beat North Park earlier in the week, 68-40.
Now 11-3 and 7-0, the Rams head into a pair of road games, Friday at West Grand and Saturday at Hayden.
The biggest test remaining during the league schedule is a Feb. 16 game at Meeker, a one-loss team that's picked up wins against most of the other league contenders.
"We feel pretty good about where we're at," Bruner said.
