Soroco football rocks Rangely

The Rangely High School football team actually got the chance to run more plays Friday than Soroco. The Rams made far better use of theirs, however, running to a 48-6 win on the road.

“They ran more plays but it’s because we scored like lightning,” coach Dick Dudas said.

Soroco High School got one big, long touchdown run from Jace Logan, who went 76 yards. Jesse Koler flew 70 yards for another score and the team scored yet again on a 65-yard pass play when quarterback Truman Anarella connected with Logan.

Anarella tossed two more touchdowns, too, both to senior receiver Kendall Hood.

With 165 yards on six completions and those three touchdowns, Anarella was in top form.

“It was his best game for us,” Dudas said. “Our offense is so diverse it makes teams decide how to defend us. Rangely had seven guys on the line of scrimmage to stop Jace, so we figured out pretty quickly what we wanted to do. We wanted to pass. Truman stepped up well and we had some good blocking.”

The Rams are now 4-1 on the season and play at 7 p.m. at home Friday against Gilpin County, also 4-1 this season.
