Soroco boys basketball struggles in Meeker

Joel Reichenberger

— It was another long night for the Soroco High School boys basketball team at the Meeker Cowboy Shootout.

The Rams fell to Crested Butte, 47-28, slipping to 0-3 on the season.

“We looked better on defense, but offensively, we couldn’t get anything going,” coach Jake Eskridge said.

Soroco was led by junior Ryan Jeep, who scored 12 points. He made for a big addition to the lineup this weekend, recovering from an injury that kept him out of the season’s initial practices and games. The Rams were without several other players, however, including Matt Regan. When the team also got into foul trouble, the offense crumbled.

“We shot a whopping 14 percent,” Eskridge said. “Overall, things are coming together on defense, but we have to figure out how to get the ball in the basket.”

Soroco returns to the tournament Saturday to play Wyoming’s Little Snake River High School.
