STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – Think of your mentor. Someone you look up to. Who motivates you to be a better person? Who thinks this of you?
These can appear to be simple questions at first. Perhaps the person who comes to mind is a family member, college professor, a local philanthropist, maybe an inspiring workout buddy.
The question I pose to you, however, digs a little deeper — how do you show up in this world? How can you become and live the traits that you admire in someone else?
This week, really contemplate the answers and follow these steps. You just might end up a superhero.
Steps to becoming a modern day superhero:
Become a force to be reckoned with
Even better, be the change you want to see. Set your mind on something. Focus. If you want something to happen, do it. Commit to it. Inspire others to do the same.

Adopt a superpower
This could be a killer handshake or a radiant smile. Don't be shy. Use often.
Obtain a special meeting spot
That's right, a place where you and your squad, your own personal dream team, can meet to discuss hardships as well as celebrate successes. Make it a monthly mandatory meeting. My squad crushes down a Freshies breakfast or sweats together in the gym.
Fight for a cause
Pick something you're passionate about, and learn as much as you can. Then, share the wealth of knowledge. This could be push-ups or equal rights.
Create a costume or unique look
Have something about yourself that you absolutely love. Be confident and show your flair.
Address your weakness
We all have them. Know yours and conquer it. This could be your hamstrings or public speaking.
Pick a name or slogan
Define yourself with a word or saying that really means something — a proclamation of what you commit to and honor that. This can be public or private.
When all else fails, wear a cape
Be strong when you are weak. Be brave when you are scared. Be humble when you are victorious. Be badass everyday. Because, in the end, and in the words of Mary Angelou: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
