STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Living a happy healthy simple life shouldn't be difficult, right? Here are five simple steps to start taking to ensure you are making the most out of your already incredible life.

Eat well

Think simple. Consume lots of veggies and some fruit. Eat lean meats and some healthy fats. And, get lots of water. Don't forget to prep your meals the night before to ensure you eat proper during the day.

Sleep lots

Think seven to nine hours a night. Your body and mind cannot function without proper rest. If you don't get enough sleep at night, take a nap during the day.

Move daily

That's right, everyday, move. Hiking, swimming, tennis, golf, burpees, lunging the stairs, push-ups in your office, carrying your kid around, walking the dog, you get the picture. Start with 20 minutes a day and add on.

Unwind

Using your favorite choice of relaxation. Turn your phone off, read a book, laugh, breath, clean your workspace, create, sing, cook, meditate, say “no,” say “yes.” Have fun and get creative by taking at least 15 minutes a day — more if you can — just for you.

Connect

With those you love and care about. I mean it, really connect. Pick up the phone, schedule a date, plan a camping trip, host a reunion, have a friend over for a meal, take a meal to a family member, have a gossip sesh. Aim for real authentic connection. Hug, smile, share, listen, repeat.

See, it's not that hard. Go back to the basics and create a happy, healthy life with the simple things.

Eat, sleep, move, unwind, connect. Happy summer everyone.
