Rhonda Cash shows small improvements

— Rhonda Cash is making small improvements in a Denver hospital, Steamboat Springs Police Chief JD Hays said Tuesday. Cash reportedly was shot by her estranged husband, Robert Cash, on June 11.

Rhonda Cash reportedly is able to walk short distances after doctors removed a bullet from her spine. Hays said Robert Cash’s condition has not changed, and he was last reported to be in a medically induced coma after police said he shot himself in the chest.

Friends of Rhonda Cash, formerly Rhonda Heaton, have also established a fund in her name at the First National Bank of the Rockies. A bullet was lodged in her neck during the shooting, and doctors later were able to remove it.

Rhonda and Robert Cash were going through a divorce, and police reportedly found a paper in the house detailing marital problems. According to the divorce petition, they had been separated since Feb. 23.
