A 23-year-old woman has been missing at Steamboat Ski Area since late Tuesday afternoon, Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. spokesman Mike Lane said Tuesday night. Steamboat Ski Patrol and Routt County Search and Rescue resumed the search this morning for the woman. Lane said she has blond hair and was last seen wearing black pants, a black helmet, and a purple and white jacket. Lane and John Kohnke, of Ski Patrol, asked anyone who has seen the woman, who stands about 5 feet, 1 inch tall, to call mountain dispatch at 970-871-5911.

Lane said the woman was skiing on Christmas Tree Bowl with friends and was last seen at skier's right of the Big Meadow area. The friends skied down to the Bar UE chairlift, Kohnke said, but the woman did not come down. Kohnke said the woman is described as a good skier.

"There's always that possibility that she may have skied in another area of the mountain," he said. "There's tracks everywhere, so it's kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack."

Lane said the woman is not from Steamboat Springs and skied Arapahoe Basin with her friends before coming to Steamboat.

Ski Patrol stopped searching at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and planned to resume at about 6:30 a.m. today with Search and Rescue crews, Lane said.
