Police still hush, hush on Steamboat marijuana store burglary

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Steamboat Springs Police Department is still not releasing any details related to a March 4 burglary at the Billo marijuana store.

“I appreciate the cooperation of the owners, and we’re keeping that info pretty tight to protect the integrity of the investigation,” Police Commander Annette Dopplick said Wednesday.

Police will not disclose if anything was taken from the business, which opened in the Curve Plaza commercial center last fall. They also will not say how the business was broken into or if an alarm was triggered.

The day after the burglary, a window at the back of the building was covered with plywood. There is a security camera above the window.

“We’re using a variety of evidence that we collected,” Dopplick said.

Billo was the second of Steamboat’s three marijuana stores to be burglarized in less than a year.

Police are still searching for the man who burglarized the Golden Leaf store at 1755 Lincoln Ave. on Aug. 9.

No marijuana products were taken during that burglary, but a safe was stolen.

The safe contained an undisclosed amount of cash and miscellaneous paperwork.

Police released video surveillance footage of the Golden Leaf burglary that showed a man in a hooded shirt reaching through a broken window.

People can anonymously provide information about the burglaries by calling Crime Stoppers at 970-870-6226.

Tips can be sent by text message by texting NABM, followed by the tip, to 274637. A confirmation text will then be sent.
