Outlaws win at nationals
April 3, 2004
The Colorado Outlaws continue to find ways to win in overtime, as the midget hockey team improved to 2-0 in pool play with a 5-4 victory against the Cleveland Barons on Thursday.
Goalie Tim Higbee, formerly of Steamboat Springs, did not play, but John Seymour helped coach the Outlaws to the win in the 2004 National Midget Hockey Championships in Marquette, Mich.
Seymour used to serve as director of hockey for the Steamboat Braves before assuming club coaching responsibilities with the Outlaws. Higbee joined Seymour on the team after a stint with the Marquette Electricians, whom Higbee and the Outlaws defeated in overtime on Wednesday to open the national championship.
The Outlaws outshot the Barons, 50-28 and picked up the game-winning goal in overtime from Matt Moore at the 8 minute, 38 second mark.
