Obituary: Bruce Arthur Lindahl

A retired Range Ecologist and long time Colorado resident of Routt, Larimer and Weld Counties, Bruce died peacefully on December 4 while recovering from surgery in Denver.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his sons and their spouses Kevin & Ben, Kirk & Diane, Kris & Jamie, his grandchildren Melanie, Tessa, Fisher, Brooke and Forest, and his brother and wife Dr. C.D. (Casey) and Connie Lindahl of Florida.
Bruce was born in Tilden, Nebraska to Arthur and Rita Lindahl. He graduated from Colorado Statue University in 1958.
His employment with the Natural Resource Conservation Service spanned nearly 40 years. He retired as the Area Conservationist of Northeastern Colorado. In retirement, he and Dorothy built a home near Fort Collins. Eventually, Dorothy convinced him to move back to Steamboat Springs where they had maintained many friendships since the 1960’s.
Bruce loved to play bridge. He enjoyed golf and researching his genealogical heritage. He was a recognized Master Gardener Emeritus. Bruce served many community organizations including the Routt County Council on Aging, the Yampa /White River Basin Roundtable, the Routt County Weed Advisory Board, the Steamboat Springs United Methodist Church, and Humble Ranch. He had served as the National Guard Battalion Commander in Craig.

Bruce loved the outdoors and was proud his sons all earned the rank of Eagle Scout. In May 2017, he and Dorothy moved to Wind Crest in Highlands Ranch. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
A memorial service was held on December 17 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch. A Celebration of Bruce’s life will be scheduled in Steamboat Springs in the late spring of 2018. Gifts may be made in Bruce’s memory to:
