January 23, 2015
August 20, 1925 – December 15, 2014
Calvin Loyal Leblanc, 89, stepped into glory with his Saviour on December 15, 2014. He was born to Lucien Collin and Sara Edith LeBlanc on August 20, 1925 in Sterling, Co. Cal attended elementary and secondary schools in Crook, Co but left high school to enter the Navy in 1943.
Calvin married Joyce Mae Sutter on June 2, 1946. They celebrated 68 ½ years together before his passing. In 1953 the family relocated to Anaheim, CA where Cal worked as a Journeyman Electrician. He moved back to Colorado in 1963, constructed a family residence in Hayden, earned his Master's Electrical License, and started LeBlanc and Son's Construction.
Calvin loved God and served as deacon at First Baptist Church in Hayden for years. His continued love for country inspired him to serve as Moffat County Republican Party President and as state delegate in 1982 and 1984.
Many veterans, like Cal, were unable to finish high school, but led productive lives building their communities. Operation Recognition awarded diplomas to deserving, qualified veterans of WWII. Cal marched with Moffat County High School's 2005 graduating class receiving a long awaited honorary high school diploma.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; his son, Dr. Randy LeBlanc; 1 granddaughter; 3 grandsons; twin great granddaughter; and 1 great grandson. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; brother, Robert; his children: Jodi Pogline of Craig, CO; Wil LeBlanc of Mt. Vernon, WA; Debi Cole of Delta, CO; and Rick LeBlanc of Delta, CO. There are 18 surviving grandchildren, 50 surviving great grandchildren, and 5 surviving great great grandchildren.
The family laid him to rest with full military honors in a private ceremony at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado on December 18, 2014. A memorial service to celebrate Cal's home going will be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to any Alzheimer's research or Hospice Chapter in your area.
