Mark Dallas Grove

Mark Dallas Grove, 61, of Craig, CO died Tuesday June 17, 2014 after a very short illness. Mark was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, July 20, 1952 to Dallas G. Grove and Sharon J. Amon (Bucklew). Mark was an only child until 8 years later when his beloved mother brought home a little brother, Scott, for him to love and play with. The child of a military man, he lived in many places including, Clark AFB in the Philippines, Detroit, Michigan, and New Hampshire. In 1965 his family relocated to Colorado Springs where he continued to live until 1978. After graduating high school he did many fun and interesting things. He believed in enjoying life and did so often. He built and rebuilt choppers with his friends and rode them as often as he could. In his early 20's he was offered a tryout with the Denver Broncos, which he passed on because of a more exciting offer. He was offered a bodyguard position for the band ZZ Top. He did this for a very short time, and then left that opportunity to backpack through Europe with some friends. Upon his return he went to work at several different jobs until starting with Yellow Cab Company. At this time he met a very fun, caring, and beautiful woman that later became his wife. On December 2, 1978 Mark married Roberta (Bobbie) L. Martinez in Colorado Springs, CO. Soon after, he and his wife moved to Craig, CO for a job opportunity with Colowyo Coal Company, that later because his career. Late in 1979, Mark and Bobbie welcomed a daughter, Devin Dallas. They both enjoyed parenthood and relished in it. In spring of 1981 they again welcomed another daughter, Derin Amon. Mark worked very hard everyday to provide a life, home and love for his family! He had an incredible sense of humor and never met a person that didn't like him. Mark is survived by his brother Scott A. Grove (Lisa R.) their children Leshelle Vallejo (Orlando) and Kyle Grove. Daughters Devin D. Jurgensen (Michael), Derin A. Harvey (Phil), grandsons Michael, Conner, Ethan, and Mark Jurgensen, and many more nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his parents Dallas and Sharon, and his cherished wife Roberta Grove. Mark's funeral will be held July 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Journey at First Baptist, 1150 W. 9th Street, Craig, CO. Pastor Len Browning will officiate, followed by a luncheon.
